Canadian Citizenship

When an individual applies for Canadian citizenship, they may be randomly selected for fingerprint check.
Typically the individual will receive a letter from IRCC indicating fingerprint submission is required. They may also update the online application portal indicating as such. Our company specializes in this type of service where we submit fingerprints electronically to RCMP for verification.

What’s the process?

  1. To begin, the fingerprint tech verifies your identification (See Identification section for more info) to establish your identity
  2. The technician also validates the ID to ensure it is not expired and that it was issued by a government agency.
  3. The technician inputs your information into the computer software and captures pictures of your identification document(s) along with a picture of you. This allows RCMP to verify that the IDs provided match the individual on the record.
  4. The next step is where the technician scans your fingerprints electronically using a high-resolution scanner. This is a quick and painless process that does not use any ink or contrast agent.
  5. At the end of the scanning process, the computer software automatically validates the fingerprints captured to ensure accuracy, ridge detail and high resolution. This step ensures guaranteed acceptance of quality fingerprints by RCMP systems which in turn aids in fast processing times.
  6. The technician inputs the recipient information into the software, which is an IRCC processing office that indicated in the letter/email you received.
  7. A biometric consent in the form of fingerprint scan is required for individuals over the age of 18 since the results from the RCMP findings will be directly sent to the IRCC processing center.

What should I bring with me?

  1. You must bring 2 pieces of valid government issued IDs, where at least one of which should contain photo identification.
  2. You must also bring the letter/email that you received from IRCC indicating the requirement for fingerprint submission.

How long will it take to receive results?

  1. Results are directly sent to your IRCC processing office by the RCMP at the completion of fingerprints records check.
  2. The process can take anywhere between 1-4 weeks.
  3. Once the IRCC processing centre receives your results, they will update your application status on the online portal indicating as such.
